Spot cleaning : For small stains or spills, immediately blot the area with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Avoid rubbing, as it can push the stain deeper into the fibers. Gently dab the area until the stain is absorbed.
Handwashing : If the entire item needs cleaning, handwashing is the preferred method. Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water and add a mild wool detergent. Submerge the woolen felt item and gently agitate it to loosen any dirt or debris. Avoid excessive wringing or twisting, as it can cause the item to lose its shape. Rinse the item thoroughly with cool water until the soap is completely removed. HANDWASHING IS ONLY SUITABLE FOR SINGLE COLOURED ITEMS OR SOFT COLOURED ITEMS. DEEP COLOURS ARE BOUND TO BLEED.
Drying: : After washing, gently squeeze out excess water without wringing. Lay the woolen felt item flat on a clean towel and reshape it to its original form. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources as they can cause the wool to shrink or warp. Allow the item to air dry naturally. Turn it over occasionally to ensure even drying.
Steam cleaning : If you have a handheld garment steamer, you can use it to freshen up woolen felt items without washing them. Hold the steamer a few inches away from the item and move it back and forth, allowing the steam to penetrate the fibers. This method helps remove wrinkles and odors.
Brushing : To maintain the appearance of woolen felt products and balls, use a soft-bristle brush or a lint roller to remove any dust, lint, or pet hair. Brush in one direction to avoid damaging the fibers.
Storage : When not in use, store woolen felt items in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. It's advisable to store them in a breathable fabric bag or wrapped in acid-free tissue paper to protect them from dust and moths.
